We seem to be feeding on so much information from a vast variety of sources, not only is it delivered straight to us in the form of television, radio, email and rss, to name a few, but we can also go searching for it through search engines. People are eager to find out what’s happening in the world. Take the death of
As a Christian, I find it kind of hard to be in amongst it all. I mean it’s great to be able to go and look at different recipes when I want to cook something, or at a tutorial site if I want to learn something that I don’t know, BUT the huge catch is that, more often than not, it distracts me from the thing that really matters: Christ. I’ve found myself jumping on the computer, or flicking on the TV or PS3 instead of opening my Bible and seeing what God has to say.
Do you have any hints, tips or tricks on technology?? If you’re free on Sunday night, drop along about 7:10 to St Paul’s Carlingford at the corner of Vickery Avenue and Moseley Street, Carlingford.

My tips and tricks? As someone brought up on technology from a young age (and extremely predisposed to overuse!) – I made some rules for myself, which are hard, but fruitful;
Sell your TV, find a way to limit your web use, don’t buy DVD’s, and don’t even think about buying games/consoles etc.
None of these things come easily to me. I used to watch heaps of TV, if given the chance, I’ll surf the web for hours, I have urges to buy DVD’s all the time. The hardest of all has been buying games/consoles. Many times I’ve wanted to buy games, even cheap $10 ones of games I wanted to buy 5 years ago! It’s been really hard, but I think I’ve finally moved on.
If I can do these things, anyone can. And I highly recommend all of them for tech-addicts like myself. It sounds impossible/unneccesary now – but you’ll never regret it.
In any case, be holy. TV or no TV, PS3 or no PS3 – holiness is my ultimate tip (and JC’s too).
